Power Play Fantasy Football

Rule Book

Regular Season

Power Play Football leagues consist of 12 teams divided into two 6-team divisions. The regular season is fourteen weeks long with a two week playoff format of the two division winners and two wild-card teams possessing the best records in the league, regardless of division. This makes the regular season mean more than just a formality and still allows a 33% participation in the playoffs. A 16 week season eliminates the dreaded week 17 of the regular season, a week of football that is typified by partial play and no shows by players on playoff teams.

All league fees, roster transactions and weekly reports are included in one price.

Scoring Rules

Playoffs

The regular season is fourteen weeks long with a two week playoff format of the two division winners and two wild-card teams possessing the best records in the league, regardless of division. This makes the regular season mean more than just a formality with a longer regular season for that last playoff spot and still allows a 33% participation in the playoffs without teams that sometimes do not belong in the playoffs. A 16 week season eliminates the dreaded week 17 of the regular season, a week of football that is typified by partial play and no shows by players on playoff teams. Playoff rankings are based upon winning percentage or league tie breakers. The two division winners will be ranked 1-2 with the wildcard teams ranked 3-4. Round 1 will have the #1 seed vs the #4 seed and #2 seed vs the #3 seed. The winners advance to the Super Bowl. There is no homefield advantage.

Weekly Results

Weekly scores are not official until three days following the last scores posted for the week.
This allows for a challenge of results and stats as well as updated stats from the NFL.

Tie Breakers

Tie Breakers are used in the event two or more teams have the same overall record for the purpose of establishing league standings, playoff seeds and weekly free agent order.

Weekly and Daily Reports

Rosters - Standard Leagues - Maximum at each Position

Rosters - Leagues with Defensive Players - Maximum at each Position

These player/team rosters allows for injuries, bye weeks and to make hunch or sleeper picks for the future, as our leagues are perennial leagues which you may keep year after year. You do not have to cut players at the end of the season, but you will have to drop a player for each player picked after the next season's draft.

Starting Lineups - Standard Leagues

Starting Lineups - Leagues with Defensive Players

Lineups are due before the kickoff of the first game (usually Sunday at 1 PM EST). Lineups for Thursday and Saturday games must be submitted by game time for the starting players and teams participating in these games. Any players or teams not listed are ruled ineligible for the week. The remaining players & teams are entered as usual. If not received by this time, your lineup from the previous week will be used. No exceptions to this rule. Power Play uses flexible lineups to allow designated backup players. This is for teams to enter their best lineups without the worry of replacing a player too early or having a no show player because of injury. Any teams that do not have enough players to field a starting lineup because of a bye week may pick up replacement players for that week. Requests for bye week replacement players must be designated as replacement players. Teams do not have to drop any players to pick up bye week replacement players. These players are automatically dropped after that week's games and are listed as available free agents.

Free Agents

Free Agent pickups for previously undrafted players and players released the previous week are done by Automatic Processing one choice per team in reverse order of standings until each team has a choice or pass and then repeated in the same format until all pick ups are distributed. Team owners must list their choices in order of preference, as free agents will be assigned as they are listed. All requests must include a player to be released or put on I/R unless there is an open roster spot. If a released player or I/R move is not included, the request will be denied. The only exceptions are for bye week replacement players. Any player that is injured or on suspension may be drafted as a free agent but has to be carried as an active player until returned to an active roster spot. If this player becomes injured after returning to active duty, he may be then put on I/R. This is to prevent roster padding which is in essence having two picks for one. Free agent picks are submitted until 1:00 PM Eastern Time on Thursday. Free agent pick ups are released at 1:10 PM Eastern Time on Thursday. A second Automatic Processing free agent draft including the released players from the week's first free agent draft is from 2:00 PM Eastern Time on Thursday until 2:00 PM Eastern Time on Saturday. Free agent pick ups are released at 2:10 PM Eastern Time on Saturday. Free agent requests after these limits up to 1:00 PM on Sunday are on a first request, first served basis. Players released during the second free agent dispersal and the first request, first served basis will be available as free agents for the next week. Players or teams that have previously played in the current week are available free agents for the following week. Free agent pick ups are allowed during the playoffs for playoff teams only with these same guidelines, but all transactions are returned to week 14 status after the playoffs are finished.

Practice Squad

Coaches may pick up replacement players or teams for bye weeks. Bye week players or teams are placed on the practice squad. The bye week replacement players are automatically released the following week week and available for the first waiver period with the practice squad players returned to the active roster.
There are 10 practice squad moves for Standard leagues and 15 practice squad moves for IDP leagues per season.
Players that are picked up during their bye week cannot be placed on the practice squad. This is to prevent roster padding.

Injured Reserve

Any player that cannot play because of injury or suspension is eligible to be put on the injured reserve list. This will open a roster spot on a team's active roster which can filled with a player of the same position. Each week a health and injury report will be released on Thursday. (Wednesday for weeks with Thursday football games). A player must be taken off the injured reserve list and returned to the active roster in the following week that an injured player returns to action. A player must then be released to make room for this roster change to be within roster limits. This can be any player at that position including the player returning from the injured reserve list. If a player is not released to be within roster limits, the player picked up to take the injured player's active roster spot will be released to the free agent list.
Any player that is injured may be drafted or picked up as a free agent but has to be carried as an active player until returned to an active roster spot. If this player becomes injured after returning to active duty, he may be then put on I/R. This is to prevent roster padding.
A player must be on injured reserve or listed as out, doubtful or questionable on the official health status report to qualify for I/R. Day to day or probable does not count unless the player is already on I/R and has not yet returned as an active player

Trades

The commissioner may use a commissioner veto at any time a situation occurs that we feel is detrimental to the balance of the league. A neutral committee selected by Power Play will then decide whether or not to uphold a commissioner veto. Each team must list terms of the trade and give their approval of the trade for it to be confirmed. Upon approval by the commissioner, the trade will be official and the team or teams rosters will automatically be updated and a transaction record will be posted. Players acquired are available immediately for use in the lineup the week they are picked up. Trades can be completed up until week 10 of the NFL season. If a player is traded from from team A to team B, team B is then unable to trade that player back to team A for the remainder of the season. If team B releases that player or trades that player to another team, then team A is eligible to pick up that player. Trades may be consumated at any time during the off-season and draft picks may also be traded for players or combinations of players and/or draft picks.
